After months of teasing, the re-release of her 2012 hit-album, Red dropped. On Friday she announced the drop on social media by writing: “Red is about to be mine again” on Twitter. With the opportunity to re-record her music for Red (Taylor’s Version), it became her second re-record contribution as part of ongoing efforts to reclaim control over her materials after the rights were controversially acquired. Which were later sold by music mogul, Scooter Braun, without her consent.
The album includes a hefty 30 tracks, including re-recordings of Red's original 16 tracks bolstered by 14 bonus songs. Nine of the extra songs came from Swift's ‘vault.’ Songs that were originally written for the album but did not make the cut. Listeners are given a deeper dive into Swift’s heavily gossiped about romantic life featuring famous exes like Harry Styles and Jake Gyllenhaal. One of the lyrics on ‘All Too Well’ provides a pretty big hint at her relationship with Jake: “Left my scarf there at your sister’s house...And you still got it in your drawer even now.” During their relationship Taylor was pictured wearing a striped scarf as they were laughing together, arm in arm. Another song from the ‘vault’ that Taylor added to the re-relea
sed version of Red that is heavily thought to be about Jake too is ‘I Bet You Think About Me.’ She wrote the track alongside Lori Mckenna, saying she wanted it to “be like a comedic, tongue-in-cheek, funny, not caring what anyone thinks about you sort of breakup song.” The final lyrics of the song sums up what it must be like when imagining Jake listening to the song: “I bet you think about me when you say ‘oh my god, she’s insane, she wrote a song about me’ I bet you think about me.” Now with a new found confidence, Swift embraces the album in which portraits a doomed relationship. “It’s impressive to see Swift tackle the same music she wrote almost a decade and five albums ago without it feeling trite,” states Yahoo!Entertainment.
